Q About Andrew Jones

Andrew Jones is a trumpet player and conductor. He is a freelance professional musician for over 20 years and is based in South Wales (near Cardiff), but travel all over the United Kingdom and have been called upon to perform around the world, in a wide variety of venues in many countries, including Sydney Opera House, the Grieghalle in Bergen, Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall in London.

He started his musical career at the age of seven, playing the Cornet, and living in a small Welsh village near Carmarthen, was soon inducted into the local village brass band – Crwbin Silver Band, playing alongside his Dad, Uncle and Cousin.

He studied music at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, and has been playing for a living almost ever since. During this time, he has been fortunate enough to have performed with a host of world renowned musicians, such as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Only Men Aloud, Katherine Jenkins and Trumpet legend, Maurice Murphy.

Today, he has a varied workload that takes in everything from performing educational concerts with the Welsh Brass Trio, playing the Last Post at a military funeral to joining the Regimental Band of The Royal Welsh on the pitch at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff ahead of a rugby international match.
He plays at weddings, in corporate events, gala dinners and in concert halls and is also the Musical Director of the Parc and Dare Brass Band. He has also appeared on Television and Radio and made numerous recordings, including a recent project for a track on Iwan Rheon’s (“Game of Thrones”) debut album.

Andrew works with a wide circle of fellow musicians, and frequently assembles a variety of musical groups and orchestras to fulfil the musical needs of a selection of events. If you would like him to arrange live music for you, get in touch.
